Mols, Fairytale masquerade and The detox

We have been away on the Danish countryside to prepare ourselves for the upcoming trip to Vancouver. We were staying in a place called Mols, and it was like being a child again, being away on camp. Sleeping 15 people in each room, preparing dinners and eating together. Sixty pair of muddy shoos laying in the hall. What we did was talking about our fears, and making a movie out of hit, called Hellpost. We also did a dream movie, where we turned the fears into success factors instead. Everything to strengthen the band between us in the team. On the evening the first night, we sang karaoke. Even me, even though I hate it. I was not in the position to refuse since I had 25 drunken and screaming team mates around me. Believe me when I say I was happy when the last person stopped singing four a clock in the morning.

Last Friday team 11 had arranged a party for us. A true fairytale party. Were we danced line dance, put up a tent in the middle of the dance floor, broke a window and a table, in other words had a lot of fun. People were dressed in all kinds of costumes. Prince and princesses, Peter Pan, Cruella DeVille and Tinkerbelle was a favourite, even among the boys. It was a lot of Mexican wrestlers, in true Nacho Libre spirit, me among others.

This Saturday I did a detox at The Yoga House here in Århus. Together with a few friends from class, we all went there to drink six litres of salt water, after that puking and finishing up by cleaning our nose with a strange nose cleaner. In other words, we paid 350 kroners to shit together in a group. And believe me, you peed with your as, so to speak. Strange. Sometimes here in Århus you’re not your fully you anymore and sometimes you fall for the Danish hippie crap stuff.

The reusable foodware project

Me, Helene and Pouria have a project that we are going to work with for seven weeks in Canada. The client we are going to work for is the City of Vancouver. City of Vancouver works with enhancing community and individual well being. They serve to protect and improve the environment. Their mission is to create a great city of communities, which cares about its people, its environment and the opportunities to live, work and prosper

The City of Vancouver is working with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee and Federal Government partners to reduce waste for the Winter Olympics. To design, test, modify and retest waste reduction systems in the years leading up to the Games.

Our project is to provide Olympic volunteers, & spectators, with an ‘Olympic Lunch kit’. The City of Vancouver would like to problem-solve various aspects of reusable food ware in a retail node with a high restaurant density. We are researching the opportunities, surveying restaurants and customers, designing the system & reusable container, and running real-world tests with sketch prototypes.

My outpost, Vancouver

On the second year of the KaosPilot education the school moves the classroom to a place outside Scandinavia to create an educational outpost. This year we are going to Vancouver, Canada. Vancouver has been chosen because the city is at the forefront of sustainable urban development and because First Nation culture and ideas are finding their way into the shaping of a new paradigm for leadership thinking in sustainable societies.

The overall purpose of the Vancouver outpost is to experience and experiment with developing trends within sustainability in Vancouver and share the new knowledge with communities locally in Vancouver and Europe and globally through a combination of different media and through dialogues. During the stay the students will engage in different projects. Special emphasis is given on the areas of culture, education, environment, urban development and economy.

We, the students will learn to understand and to describe sustainability and learn how new sustainable solutions lead to new business designs and social innovation in Vancouver. They will be able to distinguish between what it means to do sustainability and to talk sustainability. They will learn how to measure and track their own sustainability and find out if actions aimed towards more sustainability have had a positive effect.

I am looking so much forward to going to Canada; I just want to go now! Even though I am a bit sad that we are leaving Ariel The Boat. But she will stay in our minds forever.
